Our Story

The Kensington Tea Room is set within a late Victorian townhouse on Holland Road, part of a building that has stood here since the late 19th century, just moments from Holland Park.

Originally a private home, it became a family-run hotel in 1955 — shaped by a simple idea: to welcome guests as you would friends. That approach has carried through generations, and much of the house remains unchanged.

The fireplace still anchors the room. The wallpapers, stair rails, and layout remain as they were. Stepping inside is less about design, and more about continuity.

The tea house grew naturally from this setting.

Afternoon tea, a tradition of the Victorian era, was never just about tea — but about taking time. Here, it is served in that same spirit: straightforward, unhurried, and shared.

Today, the space brings together locals, long-time visitors, and those passing through nearby Olympia. Some come to meet, others to pause — all drawn to something that feels increasingly rare.

Not a recreation, and not a performance — but a place that has simply remained true to what it has always been.
